The Whole Enchilada is pretty much a full tank ride taking 4 hr and 51 min at the posted speed limit for +230, miles from Lake Worth in an anticlockwise loop on some of the best roads around Weatherford, ending in Benbrook.
There are a few ‘optional’ stops along the way, including a photo opportunity at the Brazos River Authority overlook at Possum Kingdom and an ample lunch at the Loco Coyote Bar and Grill just outside of Glen Rose. The route passes through plenty of small villages and towns to stretch your legs, pick up snacks, take a bio break or top off your gas tank.

If you are looking for ‘Fast and Furious’, then no matter if you like straight Texas roads and tight and often blind twisty corners, then you have plenty of opportunities to test brakes and tires, and of course the handling of your vehicle., no matter four wheels or two.
Here’s a short informational video we put together during a pre-ride to check on the route:
I’ve led this ride a number of times on the Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited, once for The HOG House and also in the JCW Mini for MetroplexMini, like so many of the routes we drive this is a fun experience on two or four wheels. For me the best experience is solo on the HOG, riding the Full Enchilada of 237 miles stopping just once at the TigerMart outside of Glen Rose to gas up and grab a granola bar to keep me going 🙂
There’s plenty to enjoy about this ride, but if you haven’t driven on fm4 between Palo Pinto and Lipan, then you’re in for a treat, and it doesn’t end there, the last stretch down 205 to Loco Coyote will have you wanting to come back for more.
Although many people miss the advice to gas up, get a good breakfast and bring water and snacks. 230 miles isn’t a lot of miles to drive in one day, but the twisty sections can make this ride feel a lot longer than it is, and so if you don’t heed the advice, then you’re likely to get hungry and start questioning how much longer till the end 🙂
For anyone who’s local to the DFW Metroplex and want to follow this route, here are some resources to help, we’d love to hear from your feedback on this route:
